What Is NRI Quota in NEET PG?

NRI quota refers to postgraduate medical seats for candidates who satisfy the NRI eligibility conditions applicable to the counselling authority and seat category.

For MCC counselling, this is particularly relevant to Deemed Universities, because MCC conducts counselling for 100% of seats in Deemed Universities. MCC also conducts counselling for 50% All India Quota PG seats and specified Central/other institutions.

No.

Candidates frequently use the terms NRI certificate, sponsorship certificate and sponsorship affidavit interchangeably, but these documents can serve different purposes.

An NRI-status document is generally intended to establish a person's NRI status, while a sponsorship or guardianship affidavit records specific declarations made by the concerned person.

Most importantly, for the 2026 ward route, MCC specifically refers to evidence of guardianship and an affidavit concerning that fact. MCC also states that evidentiary/legal proof of bona fide legal guardianship will be sought.

Candidates should therefore use the exact terminology and format prescribed in the eventual NEET PG 2026 NRI notice/document checklist rather than preparing documents only on the basis of unofficial templates.
